Baby Jameson received his first set of tiny prosthetic arms when he was only 9 months old. As an 18-month-old toddler, he was ready to be fitted with two advanced myoelectric arms. Today Jameson is learning how to feed himself, pick up his toys, ride a trike and hold on to the bars of the merry-go-round at park.

Keys to Success

This role is all about relationships. If you're looking for a role in which you can close one deal and move on to the next in short order, this isn't the role for you. You'll develop referral sources and patient-clients for the long term. For patients, it can take time to receive approvals for their first prosthetic with us, so you'll need to stay in touch with each individual to keep things moving. And most patients will want or need prosthetics in the future. For referrers, you'll need to take the time to establish yourself, as the face of AAD, as someone they can trust. You'll position yourself as a knowledgeable consultant, but you'll also need to make a connection on a more personal level.

In addition, in order to be an outstanding Business Development Manager, you will:
  • Achieve goals independently but also contribute effectively as a team member.
  • Manage a lot of details without losing sight of the big picture and how those details fit into it.
  • Model, for the CoE staff, an upbeat, patient-oriented approach, and help motivate that staff.
  • Share our commitment to and passion for the important work we do with patients.

Frequently, more than one prosthetic option may be needed for people to accomplish all of their goals.

About AAD

The human hand is amazingly efficient and plays a critical role in our ability to connect with the world, express ourselves, and touch the people we love. The absence of an upper limb means learning a different way to approach both the simple and complicated tasks of day-to-day life. For these reasons, prosthetist and researcher John Miguelez assembled a team of experts in upper extremity prosthetic rehabilitation and founded Advanced Arm Dynamics in 1998. His goal was to provide the highest level of prosthetic care, incorporating state-of-the art technology and techniques with a multidisciplinary team approach.

Advanced Arm Dynamics is focused on a singular goal: upper extremity prosthetic rehabilitation. That's a striking difference from the general prosthetic clinic where more than 90 percent of the patients are lower extremity. While most clinics see one or two upper limb patients a year, we see hundreds. Our comprehensive approach includes individualized prosthetic evaluation and fitting, on-site occupational therapy, the opportunity to talk with a licensed counselor and assistance with insurance authorization. In addition, patients often have access to new technologies that stem from the company's extensive involvement in international research, development and beta testing. AAD is committed to creating a uniquely supportive environment that enhances the lives of people who have experienced upper limb loss.

Our Centers of Excellence are dedicated to helping people understand their rehabilitation options and move forward with their lives. Building an innovative prosthesis is where we start, but to be truly successful, you need a broader team. At Advanced Arm Dynamics, that team includes:
  • An experienced upper extremity prosthetic specialist,
  • An occupational therapist who specializes in upper limb training,
  • A licensed counselor to assist with transitional challenges, and
  • Insurance justification and authorization specialists.
We've made tremendous advancements in the field, and continue to invest heavily in research and development.

Pictured: we have developed expedited fitting protocols that allow us to focus on a single patient's care from start to finish without interruption. In three to five days, patients will have a comprehensive assessment with our multidisciplinary team, set functional goals and therapeutic guidelines, be fit with their initial prosthesis, and work with our on-site occupational therapist.
